"Less" is a subtractive architecture that characterizes space solely on the basis of the physical composition of the void. An invisible architecture that proceeds by subtraction, removing that which occupies the space, emptying the void : a space, bent back on itself, hollow, in the heart of the summer, in Rome. Removing heat, removing moisture, removing light, and then removing the air itself - this is the creation of space by subtraction. This architecture proceeds by depleting the climate, absorbing information rather than augmenting it, subtracting rather than adding, emptying the place : a reverse architecture, to be experienced physiologically. A square of black cloth on the ground defines the perimeter within which light is absorbed. The periphery is marked off by dehumidifiers that remove the moisture from the air, simultaneously lowering the heat. Pumps aspirate the air. Less is architecture at its paroxysm, as sheer expenditure, without tectonics, without limits./
